Why study politics? Let’s consider the consequences of political decisions on our everyday lives. Read pages 21-31 from your textbook on political engagement, then answer the following questions:
Does politics affect you directly? Think of examples from your everyday life when you encounter politics. What makes these experiences “political”?
Are you engaged or at least informed about actions of the federal or local government?
Are you registered to vote? How would you feel if you were not allowed to vote until age twenty-one, or not at all?
Why do you think it is important for you to have a basic knowledge of how our government works?
