Debbie is the eldest of four children. She is described by high school teachers as “very likable and popular.” She plans to major in social work.
2nd candidate: EZEKIEL NKOMO, age 20. Ezekiel is from Lagos, Nigeria and is a brilliant student in chemistry. He comes from a poor family, with parents who could never afford to send him to the U.S. A Baptist mission group is willing to pay his passage if he can get a scholarship from a U.S. college. Ezekiel plans to study chemistry with the goal of working to develop fertilizers that will increase rice yields (an important crop in his country). His teachers as highly motivated describe him and goal oriented. They all agree that he will be highly successful in his studies.
