Question Description
I’m working on a history discussion question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
1) From the late 1600s onward, how were the perspectives of white male voters shaped by philosophies like liberalism and republicanism, together with the English Bill of Rights and other laws surrounding voting and office holding in the colonies?
2) Is it fair to argue that white men in England’s North American colonies enjoyed substantially more opportunities to participate in governance than existed in England at the time? Was this true in every respect?
3) Consider the “Voices of Freedom” selections on pgs. 84-85 and answer the accompanying questions. What does the Maryland law tell us about how the consolidation of slavery affected ideas about racial difference? Why does Elizabeth Sprigs compare her condition unfavorably to that of blacks? What do these documents suggest about the limits of freedom in early colonial America? Give me Liberty! Brief Volume 1 is the name of the book link below
